Scope of the conference
Sufficient and stable energy supply plays such an essential role to support the remarkable growth of developing country, especially for Asian countries. On the one hand, people are cognized of the potential capabilities of nuclear energy as a sustainable and abundant energy source. On the other hand, the public are beset by the hard question whether nuclear energy systems are safe enough. It seems that risk-informed decision making might be the best way (and almost the only way) to understand the world appropriately, especially the nuclear system world. Risk assessment and management is a key area for every stakeholder of civilian use of nuclear energy including researches, practitioners, regulators and general public.
Asian community of Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) had reached to agreement to establish a forum, named the Asian Symposium on Risk Assessment and Management (ASRAM) in 2016. It is the first Asian forum on PRA and risk management to provide opportunity to exchange information, present research results, review the state of the industry, discuss future directions, and foster friendship. We successfully demonstrated this charter during the ASRAM2017 in Japan last year.
In October 2018, the Institute of Nuclear and New Energy Technology of Tsinghua University (INET) is honored to organize the ASRAM 2018 in Xiamen, China, with the Japan Nuclear Society and the Korean Nuclear Society. We cordially welcome leaders, researchers and practitioners from Asian countries as well as other areas to participate in this multi-disciplinary and informative forum, ASRAM 2018.
